Down syndrome and additional diagnosis
Sometimes individuals with Down syndrome can have an additional diagnosis of, for example, autism, ADHD, significant sensory processing difficulties, additional significant physical health conditions or co-morbidities. To date, most of the research on Down syndrome with complex needs has focused on a dual diagnosis of Down syndrome and autism.
