Festive treat for Downright Special families
A charity which supports children with Down syndrome and their families has hailed its annual Christmas party a huge success.
Downright Special held its party at the Holiday Inn, Hull Marina, on December 13, and it was attended by more than 60 children and 60 adults.
They had a special visit from Father Christmas and each child received a christmas gift, while enjoying crafts, facepainting, a disco and other treats.
Sarah Mangham, social secretary at Downright Special, said: “It was a wonderful day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
“It’s a lovely time of year and it’s really special for us to be able to organise this for the families we work with.
We had great support from businesses and charities who donated gifts, including the Smile Foundation, Gosschalks Solicitors and Centrica Storage Limited, and Musikai DJ, who reduced his rate to support us, as well as volunteers who donated their time to help.
We also had support from Hull Collegiate School pupils, who sang carols and Christmas songs, Sainsburys Local in Ings Road, who donated a hamper to raffle, the Awesome4some Lifestyle team, who facepainted for us, South Hunsley School pupils, who took care of the Christmas craft activities, and the Holiday Inn staff, who all made us so welcome at their lovely venue.
We couldn’t have done it without them.”
