“We are the voice of the parents and children we represent. It’s about having the strength and credibility behind you to help get messages across if you’re facing issues around getting the right services and help for your child. We can do that through supporting parents in meetings and offering advice for filling in benefits forms. It’s about helping parents understand what’s available and how to access the right services for their individual child. It’s also about standing up for people with Down Syndrome generally and making people aware of what the condition is, as well as what it isn’t. There are so many outdated perceptions and understanding of the condition.”
