About Downright Special
We offer support and advice to parents on all aspects of caring for a child with Down Syndrome. We do this through:
- Visits to new parents.
- If your child has been born with a specific health issue, one of our parents who has experienced that journey would be happy to come and see you at home or in hospital. Ask the health visitor/community nurse to contact us on your behalf if that is easier. They will be happy to help.
- A weekly fun and education session for pre-school and foundation stage children on Friday mornings
- A weekly sensory and signing session for babies on Monday mornings.
- Lending useful resources to parents.
- Training on specific issues relating to our children - available for parents, teachers and other professionals.
- Advice and advocacy on issues such as statementing, education and health.
- Various social activities, e.g. BBQs, trips out, farm visits and swimming.
